Construction On New Elementary School In Home Stretch - WHLT 22 Connecting the Pine Belt

Construction on Long Leaf Elementary in Lamar County School District approaches the home stretch.
The new school is located West of Hattiesburg.
The district's construction manager, Johnny Downs, says the cafeteria and classroom buildings are 95 percent complete. he says the multi-purpose building is 80 percent complete.
Work is underway to grade the land outside the buildings, and construction is progressing on the outside canopies.
The school is scheduled to open to students in August, but staff will occupy the school in April.
