Lady Bobcats seeded No. 5 in NJCAA Division II National Tournament

The Jones County Junior College Lady Bobcats are the No. 5 seed going into the NJCAA Division II National Tournament this week at Clinton's Traceway Park.

The Lady Bobcats, 42-8, will face Lincoln Land Community College (Ill.), 28-25, the No. 12 seed, at 1:30 p.m. on Field 3 on Wednesday. The Lady Bobcats are the MACJC state champions and Region 23 runnerup.

The JCJC/Lincoln Land winner meets the winner of the game between No. 4 seed Cowley County Community College (Kan.), 50-8, and No. 13 seed Cuyahoga Community College (Ohio), 23-12, which takes place at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday on Field 4. That winner's bracket game would be at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday on Field 2.

Region 23 champion LSU-Eunice, 57-5, is the top seed and will face Murray State College (Okla.), 20-37, at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday on Field 1. Defending champion Phoenix College (Ariz.), 44-15, meets No. 15 seed Burlington County College (N.J.), 37-15, at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday on Field 4.

No. 3 seed Kirkwood Community College (Iowa), 55-3), faces No. 14-seed Community College-Baltimore County (Md.), 38-9, at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday on Field 1. No. 6 seed Illinois Central College (27-13) meets No. 11 seed Kalamazoo Valley Community College (Mich.), 34-14, at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday on Field 2.

No. 7 seed Highland Community College (Kan.), 37-8, plays No. 10 seed Sauk Valley Community College (Ill.), 34-13, at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday on Field 3. No. 8 seed Kankakee Community College (Ill.), 38-8, meets No. 9 seed Mercyhurst North East (Penn.), 43-10, at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday on Field 2.

The 16-team, double-elimination tournament will conclude on Saturday.

All games in the tournament will be webcast on http://www.ihigh.com/njcaatv.

Opening ceremonies and the pre-tournament banquet will be held at 6 p.m. on Tuesday at the B.C. Rogers Building on the campus of Mississippi College.

There will be a Home Run Derby at 6 p.m. on Wednesday after all of the first round games are completed. That will be followed by a barbecue social at 7 p.m. and a fireworks display at 8:15 p.m. All of those activities will take place at Traceway Park.

Closing ceremonies will take place at the end of the championship game on Saturday.
