JCJC's Dykes disqualified from national tournament

SCOTTSBORO, Ala. – Jones County Junior College's Branning Dykes was disqualified from play in the NJCAA Division II National Tournament here Wednesday during the second round at the Goose Pond Colony Resort.

Dykes, a Richton sophomore, shot an opening round 79 on Tuesday.

David Keenan of Parkland Community College (Ill.), who led after the first round with a 66, shot a 70 in round two and leads the tournament with an 8-under par 136. Brandon Hoelzer of Owens Community College (Ohio) is three shots back after posting a 70-69 – 139, 5-under par.

South Mountain (Ariz.) Community College leads the team standings with a 284-281 – 565, followed by Walters State Community College (Tenn.) at 295-282 – 577.
