Golden Eagles Land Three on the Conference USA All-Academic Team

Track and Field All-Academic Team announced today by the league office.

Ledgerwood, one of five repeat performers, currently owns the Southern Miss indoor records in 3,000 meters and 5,000 meters as well as the outdoor records 5,000 and 10,000 meters.  She has been a C-USA Commissioner's Honor Roll and Academic Medal Recipient all four years. She has been a constant member of the President's List over her career with only one semester on the Dean's List. This her third C-USA All-Academic Team two honor.

Ledgerwood was recently named the Southern Miss Student-Athlete of the Year. She owns the record in the 10K with time of 34:21.82. She finished fourth at the C-USA Outdoor Championship. She turned in a school record performance in the 5K at the C-USA Outdoor Championship with time of 16:45.09. She added a third-place finish in 5K at the Texas Relays and sixth-place at Alabama Relays. Ledgerwood also had a school record performance in the 3K indoor with time of 9:38.30 while finishing fourth at the C-USA Indoor Meet.

Lockhart earned her second C-USA All-Academic team honor, her first for the indoor and outdoor track and field. She was a C-USA Commissioner's Honor Roll and Academic Medal Recipient all four years of her career. He boasts a perfect 4.0 GPA with an international business major. She was named to the College of Business Beta Gamma Sigma Society, College of Business Delta Sigma Pi Scholarship Key Award and awarded the College of Business Martin Stegenga Academic Award in Management.

Lockhart competed in the 1,500 meters and posted a season-best time of 4:37.31. She finished 10th in the steeplechase with a time of 11:18.73. She ran a time of 4:58.71 in the one-mile, placing first at the LSU Indoor while posting a time of 9:58.66 in the 3,000 indoor and placing ninth in the C-USA Indoor Meet. She was the lead-off leg of the distance medley that finished fourth at the C-USA Indoor Championship with a time of 11:45.60.

Smith, who missed all of last season recovering from Tommy John Surgery, has been a member of the C-USA Commissioner's Honor Roll four years. He was named to Dean's List two times and the Athletic Director's Honor Roll four times. He was named to  C-USA All-Academic Team in 2011. He recently competed at the NCAA East Preliminary where he placed sixth overall in the javelin and advanced to the NCAA National Championship. He earned the Gold Medal at the C-USA Outdoor Championship in the javelin with a season-best performance 72.05m (236-5) and placed first at the LSU Alumni Gold. He was also third at the Southeastern Louisiana Lion Invitational.

"I am extremely proud of Stephanie, Jocelyn and Kyle," head coach Kevin Stephen said. "They are three of the most outstanding young people I have had the pleasure to be around. From their very first day on campus, each made it clear that school was their number one priority. This lined up with my priorities and it was a joy to support them. All three worked extremely hard every step of the way and represented Southern Miss and their families well."
