LAUREL, Miss. - The Lauren Rogers Museum of Art in Laurel is now opening its new Sound and Vision exhibit to the public inside of its new renovated space.

"We are standing in the middle of the new gallery space," said the museum's director, George Bassi.

"It's been a 16 month construction and we broke ground in 2012," said Bassi.

He said the project cost about $3 million. Bassi said the museum was over due for an expansion to host more exhibits like the Sound and Vision.

"This exhibit is kind of fun," he said. "It covers 50 years of rock and roll history."

History with greats like Elvis Presley, B. B. King, and even the king of pop, Michael Jackson.

"There's about 40 different photographs featuring about 20 different photographs in the show.

The square footage of the addition is just over 5,000 sq. ft. Bassi said they will as lo get the chance to use the space to hold live events pertaining to art and music.
