Beef Recall: Possible Contamination in Mississippi

Posted: Updated:

About 23-thousand pounds of ground beef products are being recalled on fears they may be contaminated with E. Coli bacteria. Some of that ground beef has been shipped to Mississippi.

The recalled cases of beef come from National Beef Packing Company, based in Liberal, Kansas.

The following products are subject to recall:

10 pound packages of "National Beef" Course Ground Chuck, Ground Beef and Fine Ground Chuck, with package codes: 0481, 0421 and 0484.

All these products have a "Use By/Sell By Date" of June 14, 2013, and bear the establishment number "Est. 208A" inside the USDA mark of inspection.

The recall is categorized as a "class one," It indicates a health hazard - and the product could cause serious health consequences or death.

Check with your local grocer to learn if any of the beef under recall was sold in your area.
