Hattiesburg Election Trial Set To Start Tuesday

Posted: Updated:

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - A judge held a hearing today at the Forrest County Circuit Courthouse to address the motions that attorneys for Mayor Johnny DuPree and former mayoral candidate Dave Ware filed with the court.

Judge William Coleman dismissed the request for cell phone records that Ware's attorneys wanted from city employees.

They claimed that some employees worked on DuPree's campaign during office hours, which is illegal.

The judge also dismissed the motion for a summary judgement filed by DuPree's lawyers.

Judge Coleman says a jury must hear the case that is set to start Tuesday.
