Ware Takes Stand in Trial

Posted: Updated:

In day two of testimony in the Hattiesburg election trial, Dave ware took the stand.

He testified he's not accusing anyone of doing anything intentionally wrong, but rules weren't followed.

Deputy City Clerk Kermas Eaton testified regarding processing absentee ballots at his office. He says they stayed late and hurried to get absentee votes to the jail in time at Mrs. Johneice Dupree's request.

Eaton also says several absentee votes were sent to USM students at the request of alleged Ware supporter, State Representative Toby Barker. The applications came without voter signatures.

Pete Perry, who was declared an expert, sat in the witness stand for about five hours. He concluded that out of 585 absentee votes, 375 of them had mandatory violations. He testified those 65% of ballots were illegal.
