Back To School Tips

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - It's almost that time of the year again when classrooms will be full of students.

"Parents have through Wednesday to register their students," said Jas N Smith, communications director of Hattiesburg Public Schools District.

He said there are a few documents parents need to have with them to provide proof of residence.

"Utility bill,  lease agreement, things like that," he said. "A birth certificate and a social security card is needed for the child."

Smith said first time students also need to bring their immunization records.

"If it's a seventh grade, they need to have the TDAP vaccination," he said.

TDAP  is a new shot required across the state for 7th graders.

"It's actually a booster shot," he said.

Parents who have kids attending Hattiesburg High and  N. R. Burger Middle School should know there are new start times at school.

"N. R. Burger will start at 7:20 and students will dismiss at 2:46," he said. "HHS starts at 8:30 in the morning and will dismiss at 3:45."

Hattiesburg Public Schools start back Wednesday, August 7.
