4 Charged With Murder In Budget Inn Death

Posted: Updated:

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The death of a man found by a cleaning lady at the budget inn on Highway 49 Tuesday, is now being called a homicide.

"An autopsy was done and we did find out that the subject was killed due to blunt force trauma to the head," said Lt. Jon Traxler of Hattiesburg Police said four people have been arrested and charged with murder.

"Mark Joyce, he's a white male, he's from Florida," he said. "William Farrell, white male, he is from Alabama. Virie Parker, black male, and Marquise Dean, black male both from Hattiesburg."

The victim, William Arthur Kane Jr.. is from Cross City, Fla.

Police believe that Kane knew all of the suspects accused of his murder.

"As for the four that were arrested, they were either associates or co-workers with the victim," he said.

"He was here doing work for a paving company that gets to go from town to town throughout the us," he said.

Traxler identified Fairley as Kane's co-worker. He was also staying at the hotel.

"The others were actually staying in Lamar County off of Oak Grove Road and all three of them actually stayed at the same location," he said.

Police are still trying to figure out exactly what went wrong inside of room 111 at the hotel.
