JCJC Draws No. 25 Ranking in "Dirty 30" Poll

Posted: Updated:

ELLISVILLE – Fresh off an impressive 54-14 victory over Holmes Community College, the Jones County Junior College Bobcats are making some noise in the national rankings.

JCJC is now rated No. 25 in the JCGridiron.rivals.com "Dirty 30" poll and they just missed out on being ranked in the NJCAA poll.

In the "Dirty 30" rankings, which include both the NJCAA and California schools, Mississippi Gulf Coast is No. 1, followed by Riverside Community College (Calif.) and Mount San Antonio Community College (Calif.).

Other MACJC schools in the poll include East Mississippi at No. 4 and Itawamba at No. 16. Southwest Mississippi, Copiah-Lincoln and Northwest Mississippi were listed in the "Others on the Bubble" category.

The Bobcats were not rated in the Top 30 preseason rankings. To view the complete "Dirty 30" rankings, go to www.jcgridiron.rivals.com.

In the NJCAA poll, JCJC received the most votes of any team not to make the Top 20. They received eight points to top the "Other Schools Receiving Votes" category, while No. 20 Mesa Community College (Ariz.) had 10 points.

Mississippi Gulf Coast is also ranked first in the NJCAA poll, followed by Navarro College (Texas), Iowa Western Community College, Butler Community College (Kan.) and East Mississippi.

Other MACJC schools in the poll include Copiah-Lincoln at No. 6, Hinds at No. 10 and Itawamba at No. 15. To view the complete NJCAA poll, go to www.njcaa.org.

Head coach Ray Perkins' Bobcats will be on the road again this week, as they travel to Booneville for a 6:30 p.m. game on Thursday vs. Northeast Mississippi Community College. The game is scheduled for a videocast on www.jcjc.tv and also can be heard on WLAU-FM, 99.3.
