WCU's Pietschmann Scores Game Winner to Lift WCU Over Vangaurd

Pietschmann's Game Winner Lifts WCU past Vanguard, 1-0

Orange Beach, Ala.- Helge Pietschmann scored the game winning goal in the 86th minute as William Carey University picked up a 1-0 win over Vanguard University (Calif.)Friday afternoon at the Orange Beach Sportsplex.

Both offenses were stale in the first half as they combined for just 7 shots over the first 45 minutes. In the second half Vanguard picked up the pace and got off ten shots with three being on goal but WCU keeper Charlie Laridan was up to the challenge. Laridan stopped all three shots and WCU made the most of their opportunities as Pietschmann netted the game winner with four minute left.

With the win WCU improves to 3-1-1 on the season.

The Crusaders are back in action tomorrow at 3:00 pm as they take on UT-Brownsville at the Orange Beach Sportsplex
