WAYNE COUNTY, MS. - Wayne County Emergency Agency Director Angela Atchison said five people were seriously injured after an oil tank caught on fire, which lead to the explosion.

The incident happened around 9 a.m. Monday.

The five victims were taken to the Wayne County General Hospital. At last check, there were no fatalities.

Officials said it took about two hours to contain the fire. The cause is still under investigation.

Mosbacher Energy Company operates the work over rig on Buford Gandy Rd. in the Mathersville Community.
