Lady Eagles Gear Up for Alcorn State at the Rock

Posted: Updated:

Due to ongoing facility upgrades at USM's Bell Soccer Complex, the Lady Eagles make final preparations for Alcorn St. at the Rock.

Southern Miss enters tomorrow's contest with a record of 5-1-2 - its best eight game start to a season in a decade.

On the flip side, Alcorn St. brings in a record of 0-3.

The Lady Braves were outscored 17-1 in their first three games, but they enter tomorrow's matchup coming off a 2-1 loss.

Southern Miss finished with a 1-1 draw in its last outing, so the team looks to avoid its fifth overtime game of the season against the Lady Braves.

We're going to focus on the first 20 minutes, coming in right out and really being aggressive and we're playing at home and dictating the tempo, and whatever happens then leads us to the decision that we make on phase two," says Southern Miss head women's soccer coach Mohammed El-Zare.

The Lady Eagles and Lady Braves kick off at 4 p.m. on Friday at Tatum Park in Hattiesburg.
