Lady Crusaders Notch Sixth Straight Victory - WHLT 22 Connecting the Pine Belt

Lady Crusaders Notch Sixth Straight Victory

Posted: Updated:

The William Carey women's soccer team entered Tuesday's game riding a five-game win streak.

The Lady Crusaders defeated the No. 11 and No. 20 ranked teams in the NAIA during that stretch, while outscoring their opponents 23-3.

The Lady Crusaders put their No. 10 ranking on the line against The University of Mobile on Tuesday, as they went for their sixth win in a row.

The Crusaders threatened early, but senior forward Emmaleigh Davis couldn't connect with the left foot. Rebecca Wynne blocked the attempt with a diving save.

But the Lady Rams would not be so fortunate on Carey's next attack.

Davis started the next movement with a header. The Lady Rams tried to clear it, but it landed at the left foot of senior Hattiesburg-native Kristen Satcher, who put Carey up 1-0 by striking a laser into the back of the net.

Later in the first half, Carey's free kick bounced off the keeper. Younger sister Lauren Satcher almost netted her first goal of the year, but the junior defender put it just over the crossbar.

The Lady Crusaders entered halftime up by a goal, but that would be all they needed, as Carey escaped with the 1-0 victory.

The win extends the team's streak to six, and improves its record to 8-4 overall and 5-0 in SSAC play.

The Lady Crusaders go for seven straight against Spring Hill College on Saturday.
