JONES COUNTY, Miss. - The Jones County Sheriff's Department arrested an Alabama man carrying about 8 of marijuana in his car.
Sheriff deputies say they pulled over Freddie Purifoy, III Sunday on Interstate 59 for a traffic stop.
"We conducted a sniff from around the outside of the vehicle," said Sheriff Deputy Doug Shepherd.
That's when is K-9 officer, Shadow, alerted him that narcotics were in the car.
"The marijuana that Officer Shepherd and his K-9 Shadow received, is street valued at about $8,000 in this area, said St. Jamie Tedford.
Tedford said he could face up to 20 years and other agencies could make more arrests.
"We try to working in conjunction with all of our state and federal agencies as well," Tedford said.
Sheriff deputies said this is one of the largest bust they've made during a traffic stop this year.
"We've had about 15 interstate drug arrest which are felonies," Tedford said.
Officers say they want the public to know one main thing.
"We are working trying to get as much of it off the streets as we can," he said.
