Cumberland Co. to hold Operation Medicine Drop 2013 on Saturday

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. -

In an effort to prevent accidental poisonings and abuse of prescription drugs among teenagers, Operation Medicine Drop 2013 will take place this weekend throughout Cumberland County.

The event is being run by the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office in conjunction with North Carolina Safe Kids.

People are encouraged to stop by designated checkpoints throughout the county and drop off unwanted prescription drugs on Saturday, Oct. 26.

Deputies will be located at community fire departments in Wade, Linden, Stedman, Gray's Creek #24, Pearce's Mill and the Cumberland County Law Enforcement Center between the hours of 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.

All medications, including pain relievers, tranquilizers, stimulants and sedatives can be dropped off and disposed of.
