ARC Receives Large Grant

Posted: Updated:

The Association for the Rights of Citizens with Developmental Disabilities, or ARC, received a hefty check from the Greater Pinebelt Community Foundation

"We're blessed to partner with these guys, and it's an awesome asset for the community of Hattiesburg. We're proud to be part of it," Andy Leslie of the Pinebelt Community Foundation said.

The check totaling $20,000 comes from the Ann Morris Memorial Fund

ARC Director Cindy Pennington said this money will help fund the Rise-and-Shine Program for post-school-age adults who attend ARC Monday through Friday.

Participants enjoy exercise, music, art and various programs at the University of Southern Mississippi.

They say this program is much more fun than their alternative, sitting at home.

"It's great to make friends, and doing neat things, and making things, and being with people, and I do fun things with my friends," ARC Participant Missy Steele said.
