RALEIGH, N.C. -

The NCAA's Graduation Success Rates released Thursday show mixed results for N.C. State and North Carolina in the primary revenue sports of football and men's basketball, while Duke continued  to be among the ACC leaders in those sports.

The NCAA graduate rate is 81 percent nationally, according to the ACC. The NCAA developed the GSR as a way to measure academic performance. The rate holds schools accountable for transfer students and gives students six years to get a degree.

Thursday's release was for incoming students in 2006. At N.C. State, the incoming football class had a GSR of 64, the third-lowest in the ACC. North Carolina was at 65. Duke had a GSR of 92, second only to the 94 posted by Boston College.

In men's basketball, Duke had a GSR of 100, with Carolina at 90 and N.C. State at 89.

For all sports, Duke had a GSR of 98, while Carolina had an 86, N.C. State an 82 and East Carolina a 77.
