Hattiesburg Student Threatened With Gun

Posted: Updated:

Hattiesburg High officials say a student was threatened on school grounds by a person with a gun.

Police say the incident happened Friday at HHS.

School officials said they believe the suspect was an older sibling of the student who was threatened.

They said the student was dropped off at school, and the suspect threatened the minor with a gun.

The student notified administrators and they contacted the police.

No one was hurt.

School officials say they are glad that the student was not afraid to tell police.

"They know that what they are doing is helping the school in general by keeping the environment of the school safe and letting us do our job and making sure these people are dealt with," Hattiesburg Public Schools Communications Director Jas N Smith said.
