LINCOLNTON, N.C. -

Police have charged three people in the death of a Lincoln County woman who died after being found in the middle of a road.

Officials say 54-year-old Sherry Jo Tobeler of Lincolnton died Monday at Carolinas Medical Center.

Twenty-five-year-old Derek Allen Williams of Lincolnton has been charged with murder. His mother, 50-year-old Patricia Ann Stroupe of Lincolnton and 25-year-old Alesha Michelle Werner of Maiden are charged as accessory after the fact of murder.

All three were scheduled to appear in court Tuesday. It was not clear if they have lawyers.

Deputies say Tobeler argued with her husband last Thursday. She was seen later at a store and was found about an hour later on N.C. 150 suffering from head injuries. Deputies say she had been run over.
