Police make arrest in fatal Durham shooting

DURHAM, N.C. -

An arrest has been made in the shooting death of a Durham man Tuesday on Morning Glory Avenue and Belt Street.

Bicycle officers on patrol heard shots around 3:45 p.m. and found a man lying in the street.

Police identified the victim as Jevontez Deshawn Massey, 22, of Durham. Police said Massey was taken to the hospital where he later was pronounced dead.

Christopher Alexander Hicks, 21, has been arrested and charged with murder in Massey's death. Hicks is also charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession of a stolen firearm.

Hick has been placed in the Durham County Jail without bond.
