67 Year-Old Hattiesburg Woman Charged for Exploitation

Posted: Updated:

HATTIESBURG -- A Hattiesburg woman already facing exploitation of a vulnerable person charges was arrested Wednesday on two additional counts of exploitation.

The Attorney General's Medicaid Fraud Control Unit arrested 67-year-old Juanita Goff Wednesday.

They made the arrest at the Forrest Co. Circuit Courthouse where Goff was scheduled to appear before a judge regarding exploitation charges from her arrest in December 2012.

The arrest made alleges two people moved back into the unlicensed personal care home Goff owned and were kept in unsanitary conditions.

Goff's nephew, 31-year-old Daniel Powell, pleaded guilty to the charges from the December 2012 arrest Tuesday.

Goff and Powell allegedly misused over $21,000 in Supplement Security Income benefits of five victims in about eight months.

Goff is being held in the Forrest Co. Jail with revoked bond.  Each defendant could face up to 10 years in prison per count.
