MEBANE, N.C. -

An Amtrak train hit and killed a pedestrian Sunday morning in Mebane.

The train, in route from Charlotte to New York, hit a man on the tracks in the area of Buckhorn Road around 9:20 a.m. Sunday.

The identity of the victim was not made immediately available.

The train had been due to stop in Raleigh about an hour later.

The train was held for about 3 hours during the course of the investigation. There are 118 passengers and crew on board the train, and no other injuries were reported.
