CHAPEL HILL, N.C. -

Nearly a hundred future business and non-profit leaders gathered Sunday to hash out how to build business in the region.

The Triangle Startup Weekend event took place on UNC's campus in Chapel Hill this weekend.

Local mayors joined entrepreneurs and aspiring entrepreneurs in finding out if their startup ideas are viable and how to keep those startups in the area.

"Entrepreneurship is the new wave. We believe we are creating employers and not employees," said organizer Avani Parekh. "Imagine if everyone in this room became and employer and each one of them employed five people in our community."

Triangle Startup Weekend was part of the larger, global weekend worldwide.
