Laurel Women Charged in Credit Card Fraud

Posted: Updated:

Two Jones Co. women charged with felony credit card fraud are behind bars.

Laurel Police Dept. Investigator Brandon Evans said Katherine E. Johnston and Mary Magen Patterson acquired a credit card from a Hattiesburg man.

The card-holder doesn't use his card much and didn't notice the card missing for about two weeks.  In the meantime, Johnston and Patterson used the cards to rack up nearly $2,400 in charges.  Evans said the women were arrested only about three hours after the report was filed.

He said at this time it is unclear how the women acquired the card.
