Bond Set for Marion Co. Murder Suspect

Posted: Updated:

According to officials, Malcolm Husband's bond is set at $1million.  He's charged with the murder of James Forester Crenshaw II.

"It's a permanent solution to a temporary problem," Investigator Jamie Singley said of the crime.  "It's something that needs to be avoided. Just a heat of the moment incident that can cost somebody their life. That just doesn't make sense."

He said the Marion Co. Sheriff's Dept. responded to a call of shots fired at 1275 Highway 13 S. Thursday around 8 p.m.  They found Forester with a gun-shot wound to the side.

He was pronounced dead later that evening at Forrest General Hospital in Hattiesburg.

Singley says they were able to catch Husband within moments after the shooting.

The Columbia Police Department actually was familiar with the suspect, knew where he resided at and so they were able to take him into custody.

He said he was pleased with the investigative teamwork with CPD.

"We don't have that many that often, so when we do, we try to take care of it as quickly as possible and reach out to other resources to help us," Singley said.

At this time, he said there is no known motive.

"We're going to investigate it fully, make sure justice is done all the way to the prosecution stage," Singley said.
