HHDA & William Carey University Kick of Sounds of the Season

HATTIESBURG -- Sounds of the Season provides an opportunity for shoppers and workers to take a break from their busy schedules and relax.

Students and faculty will perform at downtown restaurants each Tuesday and Thursday from noon until 1 p.m. through Christmas...

"We're just representing the School of Music at William Carey and just having fun trying to entertain," WCU Senior Theater Major Kevar Maffitt said.

He said he loves performing anywhere, but there's something special about smaller venues.

"I'm just excited to see the smiles on people's faces," Maffitt said.  "I love this time of year, and it's just a fun way to get out and get in front of people and perform and bring joy."

The tour kicked off Tuesday at the Thirsty Hippo.  Owner Brad Newton said he's happy to host Maffitt and WCU Music Instructor Mark Malone.

"Well I think it's a good chance for the William Carey Winter School of Music to go out into the public, so people can see what they produce," Newton said.

Schedule:

Dec. 3 & 5 - Thirsty Hippo

Dec. 10 & 12 - Bianchi's Pizzeria and Walnut Circle Grill

Dec. 17 & 19 - 206 Front and Brownstone's.
