The program is a collaborative effort between Friends of University Library Group at the University of Southern Mississippi, Red Door Marketing Agency, the Salvation Army and the Favre 4 Hope Foundation.  Together they're collecting brand new books for needy children from birth to 12-years-old.

Red Door Marketing Agency Communications Director Colleen Munkel said children can benefit so much from the gift of reading.

"It's really a gift that keeps on giving because not only does a new book make you feel special, but it can transport you to new places," Munkel said.  "It can enhance your creativity as well as obviously your language and vocabulary skills."
