HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The City of Hattiesburg hosted its Tree Lighting Ceremony Thursday at Town Square Park in Downtown.

City officials say this is an annual holiday event that many look forward to every year.

Dozens gathered and were able to receive free fruit and snacks.

Santa and Mrs. Claus also came to accept Christmas wish lists from children.

Everyone also had the opportunity to bring non-perishable food items that could be donated to those families who are in need this holiday season.

Mayor Johnny DuPree said the City would like to highlight the spirit of giving this season.

The City of Hattiesburg will also hold a Christmas Parade Saturday Downtown at 1 p.m.
