Former USM Coaches Denied Hearing

Posted: Updated:

HATTIESBURG -- The US Supreme Court will not hear arguments from former USM soccer coaches who claimed sexual harassment and sexual discrimination.

Former women's head soccer coach John Vincent and assistant coaches John Molloghan and Ged O'Connor were originally awarded $1.2 million after filing suit against the university for sexual harassment, gender discrimination and retaliation by a Forrest County jury in 2008.

However, the Mississippi Supreme Court did not find enough evidence for a verdict in favor of the coaches, and in 2012 the verdict was reversed.

The coaches filed a petition for the case to go back to trial, but the US Supreme Court declined.

Boise State in no way resembled the program that used to beat the big boys with such regularity. The Rebels finally came around in the fourth quarter, pulling away to beat Boise State 35-13 in a sloppy season opener Thursday.
