Ellisville Man Sentenced For Killing Cousin

Posted: Updated:

An Ellisville man was sentenced to time behind bars for killing his cousin.

Jones Co. District Attorney Tony Buckley said Roderick Deloach, 23 and his then 24-year-old cousin Timothy Hardy argued for two days over a cell phone.

On Memorial Day 2012 Deloach snapped and fatally stabbed Hardy in the chest on North Street in Ellisville.

Buckley explained Deloach was indicted for manslaughter, not murder, because it's considered a "heat of the moment" situation.

His maximum penalty could have been 20 years.  The Jones Co. Circuit Court sentenced him to serve 12 years behind bars.

Buckley maintained the state and victim's wife, who has since moved to Texas, is satisfied with the plea, and there will be no appeal.
