Bassfield, Forrest Co. AHS & Oak Grove Celebrate State Titles at USM

More than one week after reaching the pinnacle, emotions still run high for the champs.

On Monday night, 2A Bassfield, 4A Forrest Co. AHS and 6A Oak Grove all took a stroll down the Eagle Walk at Southern Miss together to relive some of that unbridled joy and bring closure to the season that was.

Later, fans of all three schools gathered behind the south end zone of M.M. Roberts Stadium to celebrate the accomplishments of their teams one last time.

Even though the banner makes it official, the reality has still yet to sink in for the ring bearers.

"It's all just real unbelievable still," says Oak Grove offensive line coach/run game coordinator Drew Causey.

"It's still sinking in," says Forrest Co. AHS head football coach Larry Dolan. "We've been pretty busy this past week, so I'm thinking when we get to the Christmas holidays and maybe I can get in a deer stand somewhere, I can sit back and think about it a little bit."

"We'll be able to finally get back and sit down and soak in the magnitude of what we've been able to accomplish, and that I think will be when it will be the most gratifying," says Bassfield head football coach Lance Mancuso.
