Ex-boyfriend arrested in S.C., charged with Durham double murder

DURHAM, N.C. -

A South Carolina man has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder in a double-murder from Monday in Durham.

Michael Teon Brown, 28, of Hartsville, S.C., was taken into custody Wednesday morning in Darlington County, S.C. Deputies in that area were tracking him and exchanged gunfire with him. He was shot in the incident and taken to the hospital and is expected to survive.

Killed Monday on Cheek Road in Durham were Jerron McGirt, 34, and Jessica Liriano, 33, both of 2201 Cheek Road. They died after suffering gunshot wounds. Officers were dispatched to a shooting call shortly before 7 a.m. Monday where they found the two victims at the scene.

Liriano was found dead inside the home and McGirt died at the hospital.

Investigators said Brown was Liriano's former boyfriend.

Police say a child was in the home at the time of the shootings.

Police have not determined a motive at this time and no charges have been filed yet in the case.
