Suspect Invades Home, Steals Vehicles, & Shoots Officers in Gloster

Posted: Updated:

Police Chief McKenzie tells us a call came just after Midnight on Christmas about a home invasion on South Cherry Street in McComb.

A man came to the door and asked to use the phone. Then he forced his way into the home. The man kidnapped the home owner and forced her at gun point into her gray Mercury Mountaineer.  While in the vehicle, the kidnapper dropped his gun. He went to pick it up and the SUV ran off the road, giving the home owner a chance to escape. The woman ran to a nearby neighbor's house and called the police. The suspect drove off in the SUV.

Later, investigators spotted the SUV in Gloster, Mississippi. During an exchange of gunfire between police and the suspect, two officers were shot. The suspect then stole a Gloster patrol car.

A female was found in the stolen Mercury Mountaineer and has been taken into custody.

Police just caught up with the suspect and he is now in custody.
