27-year-old, Dennis Morgan is now in police custody  for allegedly shooting at police officers Thursday afternoon near a city in Amite County.

Police say Morgan kidnapped a 41- year- old woman in McComb at gunpoint shortly after midnight last night and took her Mercury Mountaineer.

The victim jumped out of the truck when Morgan ran it off the side of the road after he dropped his gun in the vehicle.

Now, that same SUV was spotted in Gloster a bit later and police tell us gunfire was exchanged right before Morgan stole a patrol car. Another woman is in custody; she was found in the SUV, but officials still don’t know what role she plays.

He shortly wrecked the police vehicle and led State Troopers on a high speed chase into Louisiana.

According to the Enterprise-Journal, Morgan was arrested in Greensburg, LA on two counts of attempted murder of a law enforcement officer and one count of possession of a weapon by a convicted felon. He faces additional charges in Mississippi.
