On December 26th around 1pm, Gloster police officers were involved in a shoot-out with a fleeing suspect. The suspect stole a Gloster police car. The suspect abandoned the police car and carjacked a second vehicle.  MHP units were in the area and came into contact with the carjacked vehicle. MHP pursued the vehicle into Louisiana. The suspect crashed the car in the woods and fired at the MHP troopers. Troopers returned fire and the suspect was taken into custody without injury.

“Our troopers reacted in an exceptional fashion and were able to apprehend the suspect without anyone being hurt,” MHP Lt. Col. Kevin Myers said. “The training of our troopers equipped them with the means to get this dangerous individual off the streets.”

Dennis Jerrell Morgan Jr., age 27, of McComb is being held on charges of two counts aggravated assault of a police officer, grand larceny, carjacking, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and felony fleeing.
