FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. -

Four men have been charged in connection with a meth lab that was discovered Sunday night at a Fayetteville home.

Police were called out to 105 Langdon Street around 11:18 p.m. Sunday in reference to suspicious activity. When officers arrived on scene, they discovered a small meth lab inside the home, according to Fayetteville Police.

Christopher Jevon Purdie, 36, Jonathan Michael Tawney, 28, Benjamin Lucas Headden, 34, and John Joseph Downey, 23, are charged in connection with the bust.

Tawney was charged with possession of a methamphetamine precursor, conspiracy to possess a meth precursor and maintaining a dwelling for a controlled substance.

Purdie, Downey and Headden were each charged with conspiracy to possess a meth precursor and maintaining a dwelling for a controlled substance.

Authorities said there was no threat to the public and no evacuation was required.

"I'm glad everything has been discovered and put an end to it," commented Patricia Mills who lives just a few houses down on Langdon Street. "It doesn't matter what neighborhood you live in, what type of house you have and who lives next door to you, you just don't know what's going on next door. I'm just shocked to know there's a meth lab right next to us."

Mills said the house had been vacant for years until just recently. She said in the past few months she noticed new people at the house.

"Thank God for whoever turned them in. We don't need that," Mills said.

Fayetteville Police said the investigation continues. So more arrests and more charges may be possible.

The four men were processed at the Cumberland County Detention Center and jailed on $10,000.00 secured bonds.  Headden had an outstanding order for arrest for Assault Inflicting Serious Injury and received an additional $25,000.00 secured bond.
