2 charged in Hope Mills Subway robbery

HOPE MILLS, N.C. -

Two people have been arrested and charged in connection with a robbery at the Subway in the Village Shopping Center in Hope Mills.

The robbery took place Saturday, Dec. 28.

The two suspects fled the scene after the robbery in a red four-door sedan. Hope Mills police officers spotted the vehicle and conducted a felony traffic stop. During the stop, one of the suspects and officers had a brief struggle.

Police charged Steven Seidel, 26, and Kayla Smith, 21, in connection with incident. Seidel is charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon, assault of a law enforcement office and injury to personal property. Smith is charged with accessory after the fact, possession of marijuana.

Seidel was given a 10,000 secure bond and Smith was given a $5,500 unsecured bond.
