DURHAM, N.C. -

Durham County authorities have one suspect in custody and are looking for one man who fled from deputies after an armed robbery and brief car chase Wednesday night.

The Durham County Sheriff's Office said deputies were dispatched to an armed robbery at Tortilleria Y Carniceria at 3801 Wake Forest Highway around 10 p.m. Wednesday.

As deputies were responding to the call, they were notified that a white Toyota Corolla may have fled from the scene. Deputies then located a vehicle matching the description of the suspect vehicle near Holloway Street and North Miami Boulevard.

Deputies attempted to stop the vehicle but it fled westbound on Holloway Street and then turned right onto North Guthrie Avenue. A brief vehicle pursuit ended when the suspect vehicle crashed at the intersection of North Guthrie Avenue and Evergreen Street.

The driver was taken into custody and one other man fled from the vehicle on foot and has not been found.

The driver has been identified as Jose Luis Perez-Alejandre, 18, of Durham. Perez-Alejandre was taken to a local hospital and then released to police custody. He was booked in Durham County Jail at approximately 3:30 a.m. Thursday.

Deputies located weapons and evidence related to the robbery inside the Toyota Corolla.

Perez-Alejandre has been charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon, possession of a stolen motor vehicle, fleeing to elude arrest with a motor vehicle, resisting a public officer and simple affray.

Bond was set at $253,000.
