FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. -

Fayetteville police said a man held a pair of hedge shears to the neck of an elderly woman during a robbery Thursday.

Police said Sonny Stetson, 45, forced his way into the residence of John and Annie Williams in the 2500 block of Southern Avenue. Stetson put the shears to the neck of Annie Williams, 81, and threatened to kill her if her husband did not produce any money.

Stetson went through the pockets of John Williams, 84, and took money before locking the couple in a bathroom, police said.

Police said the couple knew Stetson as he had recently rented a home near their property.

Fayetteville police detectives obtained an arrested warrant for Stetson charging him with robbery with a dangerous weapon, two counts second-degree kidnapping and first-degree burglary.

Stetson is known to frequent areas in and around Massey Hill and should be considered dangerous, police said.

Anyone with information concerning the whereabouts of Sonny Stetson is asked to call Detective M. Wooten with the Fayetteville Police Department at (910) 433-1856 or Crimestoppers at (910) 483-TIPS (8477).  Crimestoppers information can also be submitted by visiting http://www.fay-nccrimestoppers.org/send_a_tip.aspx and completing the anonymous online tip sheet.
