Colorado Man Arrested for Pot in Jones County

Posted: Updated:

JONES COUNTY -- A Colorado man is arrested in Jones County for possession of what he considers medical marijuana.

Jones County deputies were responding to a domestic violence call during Wednesday's ice storm when the strong smell of marijuana overtook them.  Michael Buckley of Colarado told the officers the marijuana was for medical purposes, and he had a prescription for it.

His backpack contained 18 containers of miscellaneous marijuana flavors individually bagged. The investigation revealed that Buckley obtained a medical permit in Colorado so he could buy the weed and sell it in Mississippi.

He was charged with possession of controlled substance with intent to distribute.
