City of Hattiesburg To Host Free Tax Filing Sites - WHLT 22 Connecting the Pine Belt

City of Hattiesburg To Host Free Tax Filing Sites

Posted: Updated:

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The City of Hattiesburg wants you to know there are sites around the Pine Belt that will file your taxes for free.

If you earn less that $50,000 you can get free tax filing help through the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program or the Tax Counseling for the Elderly.

They say it's important to know which tax bracket you under to have an idea of how much you could receive back as refund money from the IRS.

These services are not just limited to Hattiesburg residents.

"Any city that you live in if you are close to Hattiesburg we will prepare your taxes for free and the volunteers are IRS certified, they've passed a test and they know what they are doing," said Maxine Coleman with the City of Hattiesburg.

They will have sites at Petal Harvey Baptist, the Sigler Center, The Hattiesburg Library, the PVRO Vita Site in Hattiesburg at 714 Williams Street, and the Bethesda Project FSA Site at 606 Adeline Street Suite 1B.

Call Maxine Coleman for times for each site and additional information. 601-554-1005.
