Laurel Couple Busted With Drugs

Posted: Updated:

LAUREL -- Police arrested Peter Hastings, 38, and Kristen Beckmon at the 2200 block of N 7th  Avenue Wednesday afternoon.  They were in possession of heroine, marijuana, crystal meth, two scales and a fire arm.

Both of these individuals have pushed a lot of dope and a lot of drugs through our community, and we've had numerous complaints about them.

Narcotics and firearms go hand-in-hand, said Sgt. Michael Reaves, and he said the potential for violence is always there.

"We had a small child that was in the house, so, just all in all, we're very happy that we were able to execute the search warrant and there was no one injured and we were able to put a stop to some things before someone was injured," Reaves said.

He encourages citizens to report suspicious activity to police but understand that some investigations take longer than others.

"We worked on this for several weeks to several months before we are able to get this size of a bust out of it," Reaves said.

Hastings is charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of meethamphedamine.  Beckom is charged with possession of a firearm by a felon, possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute and possession of marijuana.  Their bond has not been set.
