JACKSONVILLE, N.C. -

Court records show a driver who troopers say was going almost 100 mph when he caused a wreck that killed four people at a busy Jacksonville intersection was supposed to be in court Monday on traffic charges.

Investigators said 24-year-old Saquan Nelson weaved through traffic and ran a red light Saturday at the intersection of U.S. Highway 258 and state Highway 53, plowing into an SUV. Nelson and two people in his car died along with the driver of the SUV. An infant in a car seat survived.

Court records show Nelson was supposed to answer in court charges from 2012 and 2013 on Monday that included driving while impaired, eluding arrest and reckless driving to endanger. Nelson was charged with speeding charge last month.

Troopers are investigating the crash.
