Festival South Plans Take Shape - WHLT 22 Connecting the Pine Belt

Festival South Plans Take Shape

Posted: Updated:

HATTIESBURG -- The dates are set for this year's Festival South.

It starts June 7 with country and bluegrass singer Marty Stewart headlining and will last until June 21.

Right now organizers are asking everyone to go online and vote for the "Best of the Pine Belt."  It's a contest for residents to vote on their favorite Pine Belt people, places and things.

Several music artists will be featured on different nights for the festival.  Organizers say the 5th annual event will highlight the arts and music in all kinds of ways.

"We have been growing ever year and have been more successful every year," Artistic Director Jay Dean said.  "We have more participants every year. We have, I think, great acts from beginning to end, and we really do have something for everyone."
