MONROE, La. (AP) - Monroe Mayor Jamie Mayo named Kim Golden as interim city engineer.
Mayo confirmed Golden's appointment in an interview Thursday with The News-Star (http://tnsne.ws/1f2HURE). She is set to begin work Monday.
Golden is an attorney and a licensed engineer in Arkansas. She will serve as interim engineer until she obtains her Louisiana engineering license, which Mayo said would take a few months.
After she receives her Louisiana license, Mayo said he will submit her name to the City Council for permanent confirmation.
Golden is a former president of the Ouachita Parish Police Jury and represented District E.
Mayo said he wanted to bring in an engineer now so that she can get a head start on projects she will oversee later in the year.
