LAPLACE, La. (AP) - A man was killed and his wife injured in an armed robbery in LaPlace.
WVUE-TV reports (http://bit.ly/1mxvCYc ) it happened about 2:36 p.m. Tuesday at the LaPlace Feed and Supply store.
St. John the Baptist Parish deputies arrived at the business to find the two victims suffering from gunshot wounds. The man died on the scene; his wife was taken to an area hospital for treatment. She was said to be conscious and talking. No one else was injured.
A perimeter was set up around the store and area schools were placed on lockdown as a safety precaution. The lockdown has since been lifted and students dismissed.
The investigation is ongoing and there was no information on a suspect.
