North Recreational Complex to host ‘Spring Fest’

Posted: Updated:
East Carolina will host Spring Fest and the Battle of the Bands 4:30 - 8 p.m. April 3 to mark the season opening of the North Recreational Complex.

The university says the event is open to ECU students, faculty and staff, and provides free food, live music, and prizes for numerous competitive games such as corn hole, volleyball, paddleball and inflatable activities.

Here is how the university bills the event:

Inflatable games include Hoop It Up, Bungee Run, Ultimate Sports Dome, Ultimate Obstacle Course, 24’ Dual Slide, Jacob’s Ladder and Wrecking Ball. The Odyssey Tower will be open for individuals who wish to try out the 300-foot zip line. More than a dozen club sports teams will provide live demos and interactive games.

For the second consecutive year, the event will host Battle of the Bands, a local music competition. Winners earn a spot as the opening act for ECU’s Barefoot on the Mall on April 24.

ECU Transit will provide transportation from College Hill and Mendenhall Student Center from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. An ECU OneCard is required for entry.

The North Recreational Complex officially opened at the start of the fall 2011 semester with a 51,000-square-foot beach on a 5.6-acre lake for boating and fishing and a 2,000-square-foot boathouse. Closed from November through March, the NRC is open to ECU students, faculty and staff.
