FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - The Cumberland County Sheriff Office said detectives are searching an area of the Cape Fear River after finding the vehicle of a man missing since April 6.

Joey Glenn Von Cannon, 50, did not return home after police said he loaded a trailer and jet ski to the back of his vehicle and left home for the Cape Fear River.

Authorities said Von Cannon’s vehicle was found at a boat ramp near the 41 hundred block of Chipstead Drive after family and friends became concerned when he did not return.

Von Cannon’s jet ski was found about a quarter mile down the river from where the vehicle was found, police said.

Cumberland County authorities have been using K-9 units and scuba rescue teams since April 6 to help locate Von Cannon.

Anyone with information about Von Cannon’s whereabouts is urged to contact the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office at (910) 323-1500 or dial 911 for immediate assistance.
